2% of the population have missing teeth, a condition known as hypodontia. For the majority of the patients, the orthodontic treatment is focused on creating ideal spaces for the replacement of the missing units with implants or bridges.
Patients with missing teeth often have small teeth (microdontia) as well. Small teeth may benefit aesthetically and functionally from building them up into the correct proportions. This can be done with the addition of composite resin on the small tooth or teeth.
